UFF

From the website: UFF represents faculty and professionals at 12 state universities, 12 colleges, and 1 independent university, and graduate assistants at 4 state universities. In the political arena, UFF and its affiliates advocate the interests of all UFF constituents before the Florida Legislature and education agencies. On campus, collective bargaining contracts negotiated through UFF strengthen administrative accountability and promote educational quality. Nationally, UFF members are involved in a network of fellow professionals and share in numerous professional development opportunities.

AFT

From the website: The American Federation of Teachers, an affiliate of the AFL-CIO, was founded in 1916 and today represents 1.7 million members in more than 3,000 local affiliates nationwide. Mission: The American Federation of Teachers is a union of professionals that champions fairness; democracy; economic opportunity; and high-quality public education, healthcare and public services for our students, their families and our communities. We are committed to advancing these principles through community engagement, organizing, collective bargaining and political activism, and especially through the work our members do.

About the NEA: The National Education Association (NEA), the nation's largest professional employee organization, is committed to advancing the cause of public education. NEA's 3 million members work at every level of education—from pre-school to university graduate programs. NEA has affiliate organizations in every state and in more than 14,000 communities across the United States.

About the FEA: The FEA is comprised of over 100 local unions, consisting of more than 145,000 members. Florida is a “merged” state, meaning the FEA is affiliated with both the NEA and the AFT. The FEA’s mission begins with advocating for the right to a free, quality public education for all through collective action, collective bargaining, a united voice of educators in Tallahassee, and member advocacy and representation.

FEA and NEA

UFF-TCC sends a chapter representative to the local labor council, which meets monthly, and a delegate to statewide Florida AFL-CIO Conventions, which happen annually. This allows us to provide mutual support to other unions in the AFL-CIO. For more information, please contact Jules Bailey (lujia.ailbey@gmail.com).
